I. The Sponsor is responsible to notify and explain to the guest: A. The purpose, rules and mission of the International and the local branch of the IWFS. B. The total number of members in the York Branch is limited to 25 individual or joint memberships. C. The required equity buy-in for the wine cellar and the glasses. D. The annual dues, which include International and local. E. All guests must attend one tasting and one dinner before they are eligible for prospective membership. F. The Branch requirement re: hosting events, a tasting or a dinner when asked. Inform them about the “Events Planning List.” G. To serve on the Board when asked. H. The number of yearly events and the required attendance policy. 1) Yearly events include: 2 Black Tie Dinners, 2 Tastings and 1 annual meeting. Non-members, other than a person accompanying a single member, shall not be permitted to attend the annual meeting. 2) The approximate cost per event. 3) Your reservation is your check. Verbal and email responses are not reservations.
4) The
attendance policy states a
member is
expected to attend a minimum of one tasting
and one dinner each year. I. Upon resignation from the organization the member will receive 80% of their full current equity upon approval of a new member and receipt of their full membership dues by the Board. J. Procedure for use of wines in the wine cellar. Cellar wine used at events must be purchased at the acquisition value. II. The sponsor will provide the guests with: A. The International web site address, and encourage them to review it before making a decision to join. B. A copy of the bylaws (on the web site and/or a hard copy can be obtained from the Secretary). C. The “Membership Application Card” after they have attended 1 tasting and 1 dinner. If interested in joining the guest should complete the information card and return it to the Sponsor. The cards are available from the Secretary. III. Once the guests have attended the required number of events and completed the membership card, the Sponsor will notify the Secretary and the Board of their guests’ interest in joining and request they be considered for membership. They will be on a waiting list until a membership position is available and may attend events on a space available basis. IV. The Sponsor is responsible for keeping track of the events their guests have attended. V. The Sponsor should inform them that once they have been approved for membership they will receive a letter from the Treasurer notifying them of the amount of the equity buy-in and the annual dues. Once that assessment is paid they will be notified of their membership and placed on the member roster. |
